There’s so much to love about Anconas but first, let’s dispel a myth. You may have heard that Acona chickens lay green eggs. That’s not so. If you notice your chickens laying blue eggs there’s most likely a chance that it has Araucana genetics in it, not Ancona.
Instead, the Ancona hen will lay lots of white eggs. You’ll find she’ll produce about 220 eggs per year and she’ll begin laying them by the time she’s 5 months old and she won’t be broody. This means if you want to hatch your eggs an incubator is a must. You’ll find the Anconas to be very hardy, lively and will take flight easily.
