Don’t mix your flock-I found out. It started out well enough. I put the Freedom Rangers and the Cornish Cross Broilers together. At first they got along just fine. But after awhile, the smaller more agile Freedom Rangers were running rings around the fat birds. And then the picking started. The Freedom Rangers would take a peck at the larger, lumbering Cornish crosses and run off. Eventually it got so bad that I had to put the Cornish’s in a separate pen. Oddly, the smaller, faster Silkies get along with them just fine.
We did add some geese to our small flock. Eventually we will also carry them for sale on our site, but for now we are just trying them out.
Shane is keeping one for a pet, and for photo ops we are keeping a few of each coloration.
